More than 400 people from all parts of the world gathered at the Renaissance Orlando, October 23–25 for The 1st International Symposium on Digital Dentistry: Technologies That Enhance Clinical Outcomes.

With standing room only for many of the lectures, attendees heard from leading experts in the field of digital dentistry and explored the possibilities of CAD/CAM and other technologies. William Hartman, executive vice president of Quintessence Publishing, summarized that, “This symposium was a terrific opportunity for dental professionals to better understand the digital workflow and the significant patient benefits that digital technology provides in terms of increased accuracy, speed, comfort, and appearance.”

Hosted by Quintessence Publishing and Henry Schein, the meeting kicked off with a pre-symposium day that featured lectures on CAD/CAM systems, esthetics in CAD/CAM, new educational applications, implant planning, and commercial milling. The first day of the symposium laid the groundwork for the digital workflow, and during the second day speakers worked to demonstrate advanced applications of digital dental treatments.

This symposium was a unique educational opportunity that introduced practical application of cutting-edge technologies for both the novice and experienced users. Speakers addressed the concerns of dental professionals just entering the world of digital dentistry and illustrated how to use digital technology to achieve superior esthetics and manage complex reconstructions. Attendees left the symposium with practical information for taking their practices to the next level.

Manufacturers were also at the symposium for product exhibitions, offering hands-on demonstrations for a range of technologies, including CAD/CAM, cone beam computed tomography, cloud-based communications, and practice management integration. Symposium attendees also had an opportunity to earn up to 17 continuing education (CE) credits, since Quintessence Publishing is an ADA CERP–recognized provider.
